GENTLEMEN... AND LADIES:

I mean it.

The National Youth Rights Association - through their Southeast Florida chapter - has filed a lawsuit against the city of West Palm Beach for enacting an unconstitutional curfew.

How, you ask? I'll give a few reasons.

The document violates the U.S and Florida Constitution: both on the freedom to assemble, and of Florida's that the government cannot butt into one's private life.

It's "constitutionally vague." The law exempts people traveling from activities involving the 1st Amendment. Give that a thought for a second. Isn't hanging out at a friend's house or going to any social gathering for the matter an act of using the 1st Amendment? That, and Florida's constitution gives Floridians the right to move about.

There have been arrests of minors just because they were out after curfew. This includes some teens who were standing outside a theater (1st Amendment right to assemble). But wait, then they weren't breaking the law at all! Discrimination much?

The attorney for the Plaintiff gave this city fair warning. Ah well, I guess I can just sit back, watch some heads roll, and laugh.

And for the curious ones, yes, I am excited about this. NYRA is suing in Federal Court. Who knows where this could go?
